How To Install Plugins & Sample Packs in FL Studio

Learn how to add plugins to fl studio 20. You'll also learn how to add sample packs and sound libraries to fl studio too.

This tutorial will walk you through what folders you need to put your VST plugins into (the .dll files) and how to get those into FL Studio after you've determined the file location.

You can also use the file browser in the DAW to find where your sample packs are so you can move your sounds into the right place.

I hope you'll enjoy this guide on how to install plugins to fl studio 20.

When you download a new plugin, it can be a bit tricky to figure out what folder to put it in, and where to find it when in FL Studio.

If you don’t have any plugins, check out the software review category on the blog for free software including synths, orchestral plugins, effects, and even free DAWs.

Installing VST/AU Plugins on Windows

Now, when you install a new AU or VST plugin, it will typically prompt you to send it to one of the following locations;

In your C: drive under program files, it might either go to the Steinberg folder or the vstplugins folder.

It could be in the same folders under program files (x86) too.

There are a lot of plugin developers that will have a different preference on where your plugins will be installed.

This can lead to having them all over the place, but they don't have to be.

When you install your plugins, you can just as easily send them all to the exact same folder by choosing the destination.

Installing Plugins in FL Studio

Now, once you figure out what folders your plugins are in you just have to follow these simple steps;

  1. Go in FL Studio, up to Options, and down to Manage Plugins. This window will allow you to scan for new plugins and even drag and drop the plugins you have into your project.
  2. On the plugin search paths menu to the left, click the add folder button and navigate to the folder you want to have FL Studio scan.
  3. After doing this for all of your folders that have plugins in them, you can go ahead and press Start scan.

Locating Your New Plugins in FL Studio

After the scan is complete, go to the browser on the left and to the Plugin database.

Go to Installed and depending on what you're looking for, to Effects or Generators (generators being synths or instruments).

Under New, you'll be able to find all of the plugins installed in your last scan but you can find the rest under the other folders.

How To Install Sample Packs in FL Studio

Now, adding sample packs and sound libraries into FL Studio is a very simple process.

As an easy way to figure out what folder you need to move the sounds into, right-click on "Packs" and click open.

Once you're in the folder, you can just drag and drop your sounds into this and they will show up in the DAW under Packs.

Alternatively, you can drag and drop samples and sounds directly into the file browser to the left of the DAW from Edison, the Playlist, etc.

That's all there is to installing plugins and sample packs in FL Studio.
